課程概述 |
This writing course helps first-year students develop the fundamental English composition skills necessary for their future academic writing tasks. We will cover the techniques specific to classification, comparison/contrast, and process analysis.
Main class activities are guided writing exercise and peer review, while homework includes reading and writing assignments. Guided writing exercises help students discover the organizational principles behind texts. In peer reviews, students practice the composition skills they learn in class by commenting on the outlines and drafts of each other’s assignments according to the criteria of academic writing. Excellent student writings will be appreciated and analyzed in class. |
課程目標 |
Students can expect to acquire the competence to use words in appropriate contexts and to produce coherent writing and cogent arguments. The ultimate goal is to give students the ability to think logically and critically while expressing their thoughts in authentic English. |
課程要求 |
There will be at least four writing assignments and three revisions. |
